Introducing the Altus from Arke Audio

The Arke Audio Altus are compact audiophile speaker enclosures that allow Arke Mikros to be converted into a 2-part, 3-way floor standing speaker. The Altus are a ground breaking and novel technology rarely (or never) seen in the Hi-Fi speaker world. The Arke Altus are not simply a bass extender, instead they fundamentally change the operation of the Mikros stand mount speaker. The Mikros are an incredible standalone speaker, however, add the Altus elevates them by increasing sensitivity (around +6bdb) and greatly improving dynamics, scale and effortless power.

The 2-way Mikros comprise a 6.5" mid/bass driver and 29mm tweeter. The SEAS mid/bass handles frequencies from around 35Hz to 2KHz and then the Satori tweeter takes over up to 40KHz.

Adding the Altus - and using the extra binding posts on the Mikros - allows the Mikros and Altus to work in unison as a dual enclosure 3-way floorstander.

With the Altus in play the Mikros mid/bass drivers become dedicated to midrange only from around 400-3000Hz. The Altus manage bass and midrange from around 28Hz to 400Hz.

Construction

Arke Audio design audiophile speakers that harmonise with diverse living spaces while maintaining acoustic excellence. Our enclosures utilize solid materials selected specifically for structural integrity, resonance control, and vibration management.

The Arke Audio Altus features solid engineered bamboo construction, with a 30mm thick high density front baffle. The cabinet's exceptional quietness creates minimal acoustic signature, allowing the pure musical information to emerge uncoloured. This engineering approach results in remarkable clarity and spatial presence—sound that seems to exist independently in space rather than emanating from physical objects.

Driver Technology

Our driver selection process focuses on achieving the ideal balance between analytical precision and natural tonal character. The Altus audiophile speakers are voiced for versatility across musical genres, with particular refinement in reproducing the nuanced textures of vocals, piano, brass, and string instruments.

The Arke Audio Altus use the latest ultra-low distortion drive units from Purifi Audio. There are 2 x 6.5" aluminium cone drivers per channel and these reproduce frequencies from 28hz (Room Averaged Response) to 400hz. These dovetail perfectly with the Mikros and add weight, dynamics and power to the bass and lower midrange.

Perfect Room Integration

Arke Audio believe that speakers should be as versatile as possible - our speakers are designed to work in virtually any room. This is achieved with very close attention to the cabinet tuning, port placement and flexible tuning of the midrange and high frequencies.

The Altus port fires downwards on the integrated plinth and exits uniformly in all directions. It is perfectly tuned to minimise interaction with the room and greatly reduce the occurrence of adverse bass modes (over excitation of the room) - this results in enhanced bass control, texture and dynamics. The Altus terminal panel compromises two external resistors - these allow the listener to tune the relative output of the Midrange (400-3000Hz) and the High Frequencies (3000Hz plus).

Crossover Architecture

Arke Audio crossover networks feature premium-grade components, including Jantzen Alumen Z-cap capacitors and Jantzen copper foil wax coils. The second-order design minimizes signal path interference while ensuring seamless transition between drivers.

Internal wiring utilizes a hybrid of single-crystal silver and single-crystal copper conductors, further enhancing signal integrity and overall system performance.
