The prototype Arke Altus are making waves

The prototype Arke Altus lower enclosure speakers are now up and running - they are already sounding sensational!   The Altus utilise 2 x 6.5" Purifi Audio drivers per channel -  these exceptional drive units have ultra low distortion and pack a serious punch with incredible clarity and finesse.   

The Altus transform the - already extremely capable - Mikros speakers into a powerful 2-part, 3-way floorstanding speaker.  This concept is novel (or extremely rare) in the Hi-Fi speaker world -  the addition of the Altus fundamentally changes the crossovers and operation of the Mikros speakers and no internal modifications are required.  The Mid/Bass drivers of the Mikros become a dedicated midrange driver - freeing the driver from bass duties further enhances the midrange clarity and transparency.

The 2 x 6.5" Purifi drive units operate from around 25/30Hz (depending on room) up to 400Hz.  Increasing the membrane area in this frequency band greatly increases the effortless dynamics, scale, solidity and body.   Bass takes on a new power and solidity and most instruments have an increased body and power - piano, saxophone, cello, guitar and drums benefit particularly.

A 2-part enclosure has further advantages too...  Separating the sensitive midrange and high frequency enclosure reduces the effect of harmful vibrations from the more powerful lower enclosure handling bass and lower mids.   The modular approach follows the Arke Audio Ethos and allows Mikros owners to retain their existing speakers and further enhance their listening experience by adding the Altus enclosures.   The Mikros/Altus can be taken even further with the addition of the Kratos bass enhancer.
